Wrath of the Lich King

Starting in Howling Fjord

A Guide to the Starting Area of Vengeance Landing

Wrath of the Lich King is out. If you have installed it on your computer, you have two main choices:

  1. Create a Death Knight.
  2. Take one or more of your existing high-level (68+) characters to the new continent of Northrend, and hit the road to level 80.

If you want to make a Death Knight, there's a reasonable introduction on Wowhead.

If you want to take an existing character to Northrend, you must choose between two different starting areas:

The Guide

Getting to Howling Fjord

Leaving the Undercity

Exit the Undercity from the main entrance up on ground level. Slightly to the left of the old zeppelin tower (to Orgrimmar or Grom'gol) is a new one. Go there, up the stairs, and onto the waiting platform. When the zeppelin arrives, get on it. Next stop: Vengeance Landing!

Arriving in Vengeance Landing

The town of Vengeance Landing faces slightly south of west, toward a questing area and, beyond, Vengeance Lift, which provides access to the rest of the zone. There are four buildings arranged in a rough semicircle around the east side of town.

Vengeance Landing

The Leather Tent [78,28]

Tucked between the zep tower and the Apothecary's building is a small, open tent or pavillion sheltering two trainers:

The Apothecary's Building [78,28]

In front of the door is a single quest-giver:

Inside are five people in a semicircle arranged around a large contraption in the center of the room:

The Forge [79,28]

Outside, just north of the Inscriptionist's, are a forge, anvil, and a cluster of people:

The Inscriptionist's Building [79,29]

Inside the small building are only two people:

The Flight Point [79,29]

The flight point, between the Inscriptionist's and the Inn, is obvious and accessible:

The Inn [79,30]

Inside:

Outside:

The Center of Town (around [78,30])

Near the cooking table [78,29], just south of the Apothecary's:

Southwest and below the cooks:

Southwest of the Inn, near the south wall of the village:

The Pier [79,27]

On the north end of the pier just northeast of town is Angelina Soren, Grand Master Fishing Trainer.

South of the Village

There are questing areas on three sides of town.
